A murder suspect was convicted and sentenced Friday for multiple charges stemming from two violent incidents in Columbus. Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Don Kelly announced the conviction of Keven Maurell Brown for the 2023 murder of Mardarrius Collier and aggravated assault of Demaro Griffin.
Chief Judge Arthur L. Smith, III sentenced Brown to life with the possibility of parole after the entry of Brown’s guilty plea to malice murder, aggravated assault, and firearm possession charges.
Columbus Police responded to 4013 Oates Avenue where Collier had been shot multiple times. Police recovered .380 shell casings at the scene, as well as surveillance footage from the house across the street. Ballistics would show those casings matched casings found at the scene of an aggravated assault the month prior where Griffin had been shot in the hip by someone identified as “Ceys” a.k.a. “HBO Ceys.” Homicide detectives, through numerous witness interviews, were able to identify “Ceys” as Keven Maurell Brown and were also able to confirm that he was the man in the video from Oates Avenue…
