Vivienne Westwood is ready to build. Nearly two years after paying $6 million for a three-story property at 736 Collins Avenue and leaving it empty, the British luxury label has filed plans with Miami Beach to turn the 1921 building into a full-scale boutique, according to a permit application reported by Commercial Observer.
The plan calls for a 4,356-square-foot ground-floor store with three fitting rooms and two storage rooms, executive offices on the second floor, and a bridal showroom with a rooftop deck on top. A pink neon sign and the brand’s signature Orb statue would sit out front. The application, filed by Daniel Gabay of National Permit Group, describes a design meant to “honor the building’s 1921 Art Deco and Mediterranean Revival heritage while introducing contemporary elements,” including Florida limestone cladding and polished brass storefront details.
Nothing is finalized yet. The Miami Beach Historic Preservation Board still has to review and approve the proposal, with a hearing expected next month. That step matters in a building this old: the board can require design changes before construction starts, and there’s no guarantee the current plan survives untouched…
