For millions of Americans living near the coast, rising seas aren’t a distant problem reserved for the end of the century. In some communities, higher tides, worsening floods, erosion, and sinking land are already changing everyday life—and the risks are expected to grow.
Places from Miami Beach and Key West to Charleston, Boston, and Honolulu face very different circumstances, but they share one vulnerability: homes, roads, businesses, historic districts, and critical infrastructure sit increasingly exposed to coastal flooding.
