Dexter Schools is Headed into the New School Year with a Cell Phone Policy that has Consequences

Students in Dexter Community Schools (DCS) may not use wireless communication devices on school grounds during school hours.

That’s according to the updated district policy and the first time students violate this policy than their device is confiscated and taken to the office, an infraction referral is filed, the confiscating staff member contacts parent/guardian and the student picks up the device at the end of their school day.

DCS has adopted a “bell-to-bell” wireless communications device policy, which means cell phones may not be used during class time, passing time, or lunch, the next step to implement the policy was to develop building rules for application of the policy and consequences for violations, which is now done…
