RADAR CHECK: A few spotty showers are around Gulf Shores and Orange Beach early this morning… the rest of Alabama is rain-free. Drier air is over the northern half of the state… a few cooler spots are in the mid 60s at daybreak for a little touch of fall. But temperatures will rise into the low 90s this afternoon, and scattered storms will form over the southern counties where moisture is deeper.
SPC has defined a level 2/5 risk of severe thunderstorms for Mobile County, with a level 1/5 for the rest of South Alabama. Heavier storms this afternoon and early tonight will produce strong wind gusts, heavy rain, and lots of lightning.
REST OF THE WEEK: The weather won’t change much tomorrow with the highest risk of a shower or storm over the southern half of the state. Moisture moves northward Wednesday, and scattered showers/thunderstorms are likely statewide over the latter half of the week. Most of them will come from noon to midnight, and afternoon highs will be close to 90 degrees…
