DALLAS, Texas — In a lawsuit filed in California, a writer from Virginia is claiming Taylor Sheridan stole the idea for ‘Yellowstone’ from her after she pitched it to him and his production company.
The court documents say that Salkin had completed a pilot script, a pitch deck, and a “show bible” by 2016 that she was submitting to production companies, including Sheridan’s representatives at Elevate Entertainment. NBC Universal, Paramount Pictures, and Elevate are all named in the lawsuit alongside Taylor Sheridan.
The writer claims that she received a rejection letter in February of 2017, with the reasoning of “[Sheridan]’s unavailable for TV projects.” The first episode of ‘Yellowstone’ aired just 16 months later on June 20, 2018…
