Reported SWAT activity shuts down area near East Fifth and South Smith

SPOKANE, Wash. — A police operation near East Fifth Avenue and South Smith Street in Spokane’s Lower Perry District was still active as of 4:30 a.m.

The activity happened in the area of 2600 East Fifth, where a standoff stretched on for hours. At least three helicopters, two drones and two trucks were at the scene during the operation.
