LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Citibus will launch Phase One of its approved 5-Year Service Plan on Monday, Sept. 28, introducing one new route and three redesigned routes.
The plan was adopted in November 2024. The updated routes incorporate and streamline portions of existing routes.
Phase One includes the following routes:
- Route 205 (Pink): A new route extending from North Indiana through Texas Tech University and Covenant to South Quaker and 122nd Street, expanding transit access to South Lubbock.
- Route 025 (Purple): Formerly Route 6, this redesigned route combines portions of existing service to improve connections between Parkway Drive, Dunbar, 50th Street and South Plains Mall.
- Route 211 (Green): A redesigned route connecting Cherry Point to West End via 4th Street, incorporating segments of previous routes.
- Route 214 (Red): A modernized route serving Sunrise Canyon along 19th Street to West End, combining portions of existing routes.
Chris Mandrell, general manager of Citibus, said the first phase expands access to public transportation, strengthens connectivity across the city and provides more convenient travel options for riders.

Community outreach events
Citibus will host community outreach events in August and September to help riders prepare for the changes. Scheduled events include:
- Patterson Library: Thursday, Sept. 10, 3-5 p.m.
- Groves Library: Wednesday, Aug. 12, 4-6 p.m.
- Maggie Trejo Community Center: Tuesday, Aug. 25, 5-7 p.m.; and Wednesday, Sept. 23, 5-7 p.m.
- Downtown Plaza: Monday, Sept. 14, noon-2 p.m.; and Saturday, Sept. 19, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
