L.A. County Fire To Increase Staffing, Stage Firefighting Equipment In Santa Clarita Amidst Heat Wave

Due to elevated fire risk, through Thursday, additional firefighting equipment will be staged in the Santa Clarita Valley in the event a brush fire erupts during the current heat wave.

Through Thursday, temperatures are expected to climb into the triple digits in the Santa Clarita Valley, bringing  elevated fire risks to the area.

As a precaution, the Los Angeles County Fire Department is staging  two strike teams , each consisting of 5 fire engines and a battalion chief to the Santa Clarita Valley.

“From today through August 27, we will have two additional strike teams staffed and available each day to provide increased fire protection,” said Michael Rucker, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “One will be a Charlie Strike Team, consisting of Type 3 wildland engines, which will be staged at Fire Station 150. The second will be an Alpha Strike Team, consisting of Type 1 engines, staged at Fire Station 126.”…
