WAUKESHA, Wis. – Morgan Geyser, who was convicted in the 2014 Slender Man stabbing and arrested last year in Illinois after leaving a Madison group home, has filed a petition for her release from a state psychiatric hospital, according to Wisconsin Circuit Court records and her attorney.

Court records show Anthony Cotton, Geyser’s attorney, filed a petition for conditional release on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Cotton told FOX6 News it’s the first step in the process, allowing doctors to examine Geyser’s mental state. Doctors will file reports with the court, which will then determine if the case can move forward.
