NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C.(WCBD)— Boeing and the U.S. Department of Labor are partnering to expand career opportunities for workers in the Lowcountry. Acting U.S. Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling joined Boeing leaders Thursday to sign a memorandum of understanding focused on workforce development.
As part of the agreement, Boeing plans to double its registered apprenticeships from 500 to 1,000 over the next two years. The program allows workers to earn a paycheck while gaining hands-on experience and technical skills needed for careers in manufacturing and aerospace.
