K-9 sniffs out marijuana and glass pipes during traffic stop in Wildwood

A Wildwood man and his Weirsdale companion were arrested on drug charges after being stopped with marijuana and glass pipes.

A deputy stopped 37-year-old Joshua Alan Ryder and 44-year-old Erica Michelle Latislaw at County Road 229 and Northeast 84th Place in Wildwood around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Their white Volvo sedan had no tag lights.

A K-9 unit subsequently responded to the scene and alerted to the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle yielded an eyeglass case containing a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue and a used cut straw. In the glovebox was another glass pipe and a small baggie of marijuana. Between the passenger seat and center console lay a glass dabber that appeared to have burnt residue inside, the report said.

Ryder and Latislaw were both arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana (less than 20 grams). They were booked at the Sumter County Detention Center, where the former is being held without bond, and the latter has a $2,000 bond…
