ANN ARBOR, MI – Police and fire crews will have an increased presence near the University of Michigan campus in anticipation of Friday evening Welcome Week parties.
Crews will be staged near Greenwood Avenue ahead of annual block party that is part of unofficial student festivities before University of Michigan classes, Ann Arbor police and fire departments said on social media.
Officials are particularly concerned after students reportedly set fires during last year’s party, said Mike Kennedy, chief of the Ann Arbor Fire Department. Crews will be nearby for both quick response and a deterrent, he said…
