Mayor Jeff Stehman began the Collinsville City Council Meeting on August 25, with an invocation given by Pastor Ron Habermehl from Northsmoke Church and the pledge of allegiance.
The first item on the agenda was the Constitution Week Proclamation, September 17-23, 2026. This item was unanimously passed. Hereby, the City Council of the City of Collinsville, Illinois, proclaims the week of September 17-23, 2026, as Constitution Week and ask their citizens to reaffirm the ideals that the Framers of the Constitution had in 1787 by vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed to all through this guardian of our liberties, remembering that lost rights may never be regained.
The next item up prior to public input was an ordinance adopting the 2045 Comprehensive Plan. Community Development Director Travis Taylor introduced Kristin Hardin of PGAV Planners went over the three stages of compiling this Plan, looking at existing conditions, planning around land use, and going to the local citizens and city staff to put the plan together, which is still available online…
