UPDATE: 11:16 AM: ALEA says all lanes are clear
MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Crews from several different agencies are cleaning up after a major crash closes I-10 Westbound for hours Sunday morning. The incident happened sometime before 6 am near mile marker number 2. Westbound traffic was closed for roughly four hours while crews worked to untangle the mess.
When News 5 arrived, it appeared at least one cargo truck had jackknifed across the interstate. We pulled up as a wrecker was towing a cargo truck out of the roadway. Traffic heading into Mississippi was being diverted off the interstate at the Grand Bay exit.
Officials from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Alabama Department of Transportation, and Mobile Fire-Rescue were among the agencies that responded to the incident. While we were there at least one lane of traffic had just opened at about 10:15 am at the crash site, but traffic was still being diverted off the interstate as of 11:10 am.
