Reinstated Father Pfleger returns to Sunday Mass at St. Sabina

CHICAGO (WGN) — In the four walls of St. Sabina Church on Sunday, a shepherd’s welcome rang out as Rev. Father Michael Pfleger returned to the place he calls home after seven weeks away.

“I don’t want to come back damaged. I don’t want to come back bitter. I don’t want to come back angry. I want to come back positive,” Pfleger said.

The homecoming followed the Archdiocese of Chicago finding the activist and pastor not guilty in a sexual abuse claim from nearly 30 years ago. Those who follow Pfleger say they trusted in a higher power.
