HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Quiet trade wind conditions are expected through at least Wednesday with the usual windward and mauka showers, especially during the overnight and morning hours. Some additional moisture is possible around Wednesday.
We’re keeping a very close watch on tropical cyclones Lowell and Karina, still well to the southeast and east of Hawaii, respectively. There’s still a high level of uncertainty heading into the Labor Day weekend, with the window for impacts from Friday through next week Wednesday.
The current official forecast keeps Lowell as a hurricane well to the south near the end of the week, but that could change due to upper-level steering conditions that have yet to develop. Karina will also be approach from the east about a week from now…
