LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Another hot day for the South Plains with a high of 98 degrees in Lubbock, the average should be 90 degrees. At least we didn’t threaten the record of 104 degrees in another very dry and hot year 2011.
I do expect slight relief the next couple of days, but we’ll still be in the 90s.
The persistent upper-level high pressure will drift east and weaken and its grip on us through mid-week. So Monday and Tuesday will drop a couple of degrees before afternoon maximums return to a range of 96-99 degrees into the coming Labor Day weekend.
There’s a slight chance for a few showers or storms by Saturday, but chances are slim as of tonight…
