The California Department of Transportation is crafting a permit-only network of freeway lanes and streets for athletes, coaches and officials during the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
While Caltrans is still ironing out the details, the “Games Route Network” will allow official LA28 vehicles to use freeway carpool lanes and some local streets exclusively.
“That was part of the bid package,” said Juan Matute, a researcher for UCLA Transportation. “In order to get the Olympic Games, Los Angeles and other cities have to offer an exclusive network.”…
