WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — According to a new report by the DC Office of Police Complaints, use-of-force incidents by D.C. police officers decreased in 2025.
According to the agency, there were 1,104 reported use of force incidents in 2025, down 9% compared to 2024. 945 MPD officers, or about 30% of the force, reported using force.
“The number, it’s kind of significant. And believe me if it’s one less than that’s important,” said Ronald Hampton, a retired MPD officer and the Former Executive Director of the National Black Police Association.
