PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The historic La Pigna Arch on Federal Hill came down on Wednesday for restoration.
Rick Simone, president of the Federal Hill Commerce Association, said recent inspections have found more damage to the arch, apparently caused by the February blizzard and other snowstorms.
He added that the restoration process will “respect the landmark’s familiar character and identity while addressing necessary improvements to protect and enhance it for years to come.”
