Pawtucket DHS office closed amid bed bug infestation

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Department of Human Services has shut down its Pawtucket office until further notice as it works to mitigate a bed bug infestation.

In a statement to 12 News, DHS spokesperson Jim Beardsworth confirmed that employees at the Pawtucket location will work remotely or from another office until the issue is resolved.

Beardsworth said DHS is working on a proactive treatment strategy with an exterminator and is considering ongoing treatment options to effectively manage the potential reoccurrence of bed bugs…
