Single mom injured by runaway wheel in Deer Park receives outpouring of community support

DEER PARK, Wash. — A single mother of two teenagers is recovering from surgery after a freak accident outside the coffee shop she works at left her with a broken femur, broken pelvis, and torn artery.

Hannah Petty works at Rozy’s Hot Shotz Coffee Stand just off Highway 395 in Deer Park. On Tuesday, she went outside to hang a poster on the side of the building when a wheel from a passing car came bouncing across the field and hit her.

“At the beginning of the month, we put out new signs and she just happened to be the person that chose to put up the signs,” said Jaquie Personius, one of Hannah’s coworkers. “All of a sudden, you hear a boom and then you hear yelling in pain.”…
