Detroiters and city leaders were surveying damage from storms that pummeled southeast Michigan for a second day on Thursday, Sept. 3, leaving damage that ranged from downed trees to a possible tornado that hit the east side.
Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield said officials haven’t been able to “fully confirm” if a tornado touched down in the city.
“Detroit, we experienced some incredibly severe weather this afternoon and I pray that everyone got through it safely,” she said in a statement Thursday.
