Jury finds Sanders not guilty in fatal west Mobile bar shooting

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A Mobile County jury found Matthew “Mason” Sanders not guilty on both murder and assault charges connected to a February 2025 shooting outside a west Mobile bar that left Hunter Lins dead.

The assault charge stemmed from Sanders shooting and injuring another man, Charles Craig Jr., during the same incident.

Jury deliberated over two days

The jury began deliberating the night before the verdict and continued again around 9 a.m. The jury asked two questions about the definitions of the charges before reaching its verdict around 4 p.m. The courtroom became emotional as the verdict was read.

Sanders, who had been free on bond, smiled and hugged his family before leaving the courthouse…
