Embattled Clinton County Commissioner resigns

LANSING, MI (WLNS) — Embattled Clinton County Commissioner Brian Hurtekant has resigned.

“I can confirm that the Board chair received his resignation at about 1:30 p.m. effective today,” Clinton County Administrator John Fuentes told 6 News Investigates Friday.

The Board will now have 30 days to fill the vacancy created by Hurtekant’s resignation. A person appointed to full that position will complete the commissioner’s term, serving until Dec. 31, 2028. That person could seek to be “retained” on the Board serving as the Fourth District commissioner represents portions of DeWitt and Watertown townships, and all of Olive and Riley townships.
