CHENEY, Wash. — The Eastern Washington Eagles return to the red turf at Roos Field for the first time in 2026 on Saturday, looking for a bounce-back win as they host Northern Iowa at 4 p.m. on SWX-TV and SWXLocalSports.com.
EWU and UNI have met nine times since 1985, including two clashes in the playoffs (2021 and 2005), with the Panthers owning a 7-2 advantage in the series. Most recently, the Eagles and Panthers met last season in Cedar Falls, where EWU trailed 17-0 going into the fourth quarter, rallied to pull within three late, but fell short 17-14.
In the previous two meetings, both in Cheney, EWU downed Northern Iowa, earning a 19-9 win during the 2021 playoffs and a 34-30 win in 2016. The remaining six contests were all played in Cedar Falls, where the Panthers earned six consecutive victories…
