Traffic is being detoured off the interstate at exit 35. There are a few routes you can take to Lexington. One is to take exit 35 to Shelbyville and then Frankfort Road to Highway 151 to get back on I-64. You can avoid the area altogether by leaving Louisville on I-65S and taking the Bluegrass Parkway to Lexington. Traffic navigation apps like Waze and Google Maps are your friend, as is the GoKy real-time traffic map from the Kentucky Department of Transportation.
There is good news once you get to Kroger Field. The thunderstorms that rolled through Lexington this morning have cleared, and the stadium and surrounding grounds are drying off. For now, the storms have cooled things off, but that’s not expected to last. The temperature at kickoff is supposed to be 83 degrees, climbing to the 90s as the game goes on, with a heat index closer to 98 degrees. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate…
