CORNELIUS – In a matchup of public versus private that pitted last year’s state champions from each system’s largest classification against one another, the Hough Huskies left no doubt, winning 30-3 over Providence Day in a dominant defensive display.
“We ain’t running from no smoke,” Huskies head coach Deshawn Baker said. “There’s people talking about how we should be playing (Georgia powerhouses) Grayson and Buford and all that stuff, but man listen, do they ask Grimsley about playing those schools? It’s never that, but it’s always Hough needs to do this. We don’t need to go anywhere else to play big games because there’s a lot of really good teams right here in North and South Carolina. We’re gonna play our game versus the best teams and dominate the field.”
