Followup inspection ordered after numerous violations found at country club

A state health inspector ordered a follow-up visit at Palmer Legends Country Club in The Villages after finding 16 violations during a recent complaint inspection.

The restaurant, located at 1635 Palmer Way, was inspected on Sept. 2, according to reports on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. The visit resulted in three high-priority, one intermediate and 12 basic violations.

Among the high-priority offenses, the inspector found raw scallops stored above cheese in a walk-in cooler. The manager corrected the issue on-site by moving the seafood. The inspector also discovered multiple temperature-control violations. Foods in the cold-holding units — including shredded cheddar, poultry, goat cheese, bleu cheese, lobster salad, raw fish, salmon, raw beef and sauerkraut — were temping well above the 41-degree safety threshold. Meanwhile, hot-held items like mashed potatoes, lobster bisque, sweet potatoes and beef stew were resting below the required 135 degrees.
