CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Flock surveillance cameras are becoming increasingly common across North Carolina, but their growing use is fueling debate over public safety and privacy.
The automatic license plate readers capture information about vehicles as they pass. Roughly 2,800 automatic license plate readers are in use across the state, about 80% of which are Flock cameras, according to research from DeFlock.org.
