Community rallies for Williamston family after deadly bike crash

WILLIAMSTON, Mich. (News 10) – A 12-year-old boy died and his 13-year-old sister was hospitalized after the two were struck by an SUV while riding their bikes on the morning of Sept. 5.

Robert Smith delivers mail and passed by the scene shortly after the crash happened.

“I saw a bike that looked like it was pretty crushed. I saw a kid’s shoe. And I saw it further down the block in one of my other customers’ driveway. Somebody was on top of somebody doing CPR. They were doing chest compressions – And I ran up to the property and I went there to assist,” Smith said.

Smith later learned the family were customers on his delivery route…
