CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Thousands of runners took to the streets of Charlotte on Sunday morning for the annual Around the Crown 10K.
This year’s 6.2-mile road race began at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, at the Mint Museum in Uptown and ended outside Truist Field. The course winds through Uptown and the South End — routing runners onto the inner loop of Interstate 277.
The Around the Crown 10K was founded in 2019 with the goal of temporarily shutting down the city’s traffic-laden inner beltway for local runners. The event marks the only time during the calendar year that state and local officials close the highway to vehicular traffic…
