Driver killed after car strikes multiple cattle in rural Stephenson County crash, authorities say

STEPHENSON COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) — A 22-year-old man was killed and two passengers were seriously injured after a vehicle struck multiple cattle on a rural Stephenson County roadway early Monday morning, according to the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said a Ford sedan was headed eastbound on Loran Road, east of Lott Road, around 2:21 a.m. Monday morning, when it struck several cows that were in the road.

A crash detection alert was sent from one of the occupants’ iPhones to first responders, who arrived to find the car in a ditch on the north side of Loran Road, with approximately 15 cattle still roaming the scene…
