Former Sutton Apartments residents reflect on relocation to improved homes

MADISON, Ala. (WAFF) – Eight months after the City of Madison declared The Sutton Apartments unsafe and uninhabitable, former residents say they have been living in improved, permanent homes for months.

About two dozen people, most of them low-income and living paycheck to paycheck, lived at The Sutton Apartments on Shelton Road earlier this year. In early January, the property owner, Lurin, did not pay the water bill and refused to communicate with them.
