No butter left behind: Noblehurst Farms to recycle 2026 State Fair sculpture

GEDDES, N.Y. — The butter sculpture at the 2026 Great New York State Fair was demolished on Tuesday morning. The first day after the fair concluded.

Now, all 800 pounds of butter will be taken to Noblehurst Farms in Lynnwood, N.Y., where it will be recycled through an anaerobic digester that converts it into renewable energy. It will power the farm and the local community.

Jack Clapper of Noblehurst Farms said recycling the butter sculpture is a good way to eliminate food waste. He noted that his farm tries to divert around 15,000 tons of food waste a month…
