MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Mobile city leaders are looking to add five more trolleys to the city’s streets as part of Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis’ plan to expand public transportation.

The Mobile City Council is considering authorizing the mayor to apply for a federal grant that would provide more than $1.3 million for five new trolley-style buses. The city would be responsible for a $320,000 local match.
“I want that person, who lives in Mobile, is visiting Mobile and has never really thought about utilizing public transit to see one of those trolleys and say, where’s that going? I might hop on that,” said Cheriogotis.
