The Wayne County Commission has voted to remove a board member of the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network after an investigation into a series of incidents, including a confrontation with another DWIHN employee when she allegedly referenced having a firearm.
The commission voted Sept. 3 to fire Kenya Ruth, who served on the DWIHN board for about four and a half years, according to an April report on allegations against her by the law firm Flannery Georgalis. Ruth served as chair from 2022 to 2023 for the DWIHN, which is Wayne County’s community mental health agency, providing programs and services to those with addiction issues, developmental disabilities and more.
