The UF Police Department received a report 12:15 p.m. Wednesday of two individuals openly carrying what appeared to be rifles along University Avenue, according to a UF Public Safety alert emailed to students.
UFPD is aware of the situation, said UF spokesperson Cynthia Roldán. Though alarming, Florida law does not prohibit people from openly carrying firearms in public spaces, she added, but it’s illegal to do so on campus.
