A Spring Hill man was jailed early Thursday morning after a bad license plate light led to a traffic stop in Oxford.
Byron Ardilla Cruz, 24, was driving a white GMC Terrain westbound on County Road 466 at about 1 a.m. when a Sumter County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant noticed the vehicle had an inoperable tag light, according to an arrest report.
The lieutenant initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of County Road 209. When asked to produce his driver’s license, Cruz was unable to provide a physical card and instead gave his identifying information to law enforcement.
A database query revealed that Cruz’s Florida driver’s license was actively suspended. While speaking with the lieutenant, Cruz openly admitted that he knew his driving privileges had been suspended, the report stated…
