Arkansas Department of Health plans dozens of layoffs in November

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas Department of Health officials said on Friday that there would be a reduction in force (RIF) of department positions effective Nov. 1.

Officials said that 38 filled positions with the agency would be eliminated. Officials also confirmed that 33 vacant positions would not be refilled, for a total of 71 eliminated positions.

The RIF is being done “to better align our resources with the agency’s budget priorities and long-term goals,” according to a spokesperson. They added that the employees impacted would be eligible for special employment consideration within state government.
