Huntsville health care organization receives $650,000 federal grant: ‘A model we should be copying’

Huntsville-based HAPPI Health is the recipient of a $650,000 Health Resources and Services Administration grant.

HAPPI Health CEO Michelda Johnson announced the HRSA New Access Point award following a tour of the organization’s facility on Sparkman Drive in north Huntsville by HRSA Administrator Tom Engels and U.S. Rep. Dale Strong, R-Monrovia on Thursday.

“This means that we will open a new clinic in zip code 35805 (central and south Huntsville) as well as a school-based clinic to be able to better serve the community,” Johnson said. “What we realize is that there is still a gap in care. So, this pours back into our model of being able to treat all patients regardless of insurance status. … Receiving this funding really means we can serve more patients.”…
