Bossier City Councilman Chris Smith is pulling his plan for an entertainment-focused economic development district from the Sept. 22 agenda.
Smith, who worked on plans for such a district for more than a year, announced Friday he’s taking the plan off the table after a successful first vote on the issue Sept. 3. Pushback on a 2% sales tax within the district and other concerns about the district had generated controversy.
The economic development district was designed to promote growth within its boundaries, a one-mile area stretching from Margaritaville and the Louisiana Boardwalk ending at Live Louisiana Casino and Hotel. A 2% sales tax within those boundaries was meant to support the district…
