LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Willow Valley Communities will soon debut a “groundbreaking new model for dementia care in the United States.”
Inspired by the Hogeweyk Dementia Village in the Netherlands, the Lancaster County retirement community’s Marlin and Doris Thomas Memory Center will officially be dedicated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday.

The public event gets underway at 10:15 a.m., followed by a reception and open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., giving guests the chance to check out the community and “learn more about its transformative approach to memory care.”
The Marlin and Doris Thomas Memory Center is described by Willow Valley as a “vibrant 7-acre village (that) reimagines how dementia is experienced, understood and supported.” Residents will be able to “continue meaningful daily life in an environment rooted in dignity, individuality, connection and belonging.”…
