ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Families in Rochester honored loved ones by releasing butterflies on Saturday.
The first ceremony was held at 10 a.m. at the Ascension Garden Cemetery, and the second at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at 2 p.m. The butterflies were held inside paper containers and were later released at the grave sites.
“We came today because my dad died a few years ago,” said Kristin Purdy. “This is just a good way especially with the kids to think of him remember him and remember how new life is born even though he is no longer here with us.”…
