Two armed robberies struck the same small Texas enclave within roughly 30 minutes of each other on Wednesday night, and police now have one person in custody while they continue searching for additional suspects. The incidents unfolded on Bracher Street and Lanell Lane in Spring Valley Village, a residential municipality of about 4,290 people completely surrounded by the City of Houston.
According to ABC13 Houston, Spring Valley Village Police said officers have one person in custody following the two armed robberies, while continuing their search for more suspects. The station reports the robberies took place between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday night. Video reviewed by the outlet showed a masked individual getting out of a car and appearing to take a woman’s belongings on Bracher Street, while a separate reported robbery on Lanell Lane, described by a nearby neighbor, involved someone who was out jogging.
Neighbor Vince Boisaubin told the station that nothing happens around the area, calling the back-to-back robberies shocking. That reaction lines up with the enclave’s numbers: crime metrics compiled from FBI Uniform Crime Reporting data and local law enforcement figures show Spring Valley Village’s overall crime rate running roughly 53% to 76% below the national average, according to DoorProfit.
