Spike strips stop van during Chesapeake vehicle pursuit

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Around 3:48 p.m. on Sept. 14, Chesapeake Police tried to stop a white work van traveling northbound on I-464 near the Poindexter Street exit, but the vehicle failed to stop, so a pursuit was initiated.

The suspect vehicle drove southbound on I-464 and onto the Chesapeake Expressway before exiting at Mount Pleasant Road, then continued onto Cedar Road and eventually Route 17 northbound, according to the Chesapeake Police Department.

Officers stopped the vehicle by deploying spike strips, causing the vehicle to be disabled on the ramp from Route 17 northbound to the Chesapeake Expressway southbound. The vehicle occupant was wanted on outstanding warrants…
