(KRON) — Tech giant Oracle has reportedly kicked off another round of layoffs, driven by artificial intelligence. That’s according to a widely cited story in Business Insider, which reports that the company is trying to slash payroll costs as it amasses billions in debt to finance AI infrastructure buildout.

An email cited by BI, reportedly told laid off workers that, “After careful consideration of Oracle’s current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change. As a result, today is your last working day.”
According to reports, laid off employees lost access to email and other systems early Monday morning. Office badges no longer worked and then the email informing them they’d lost their job arrived later in the morning.
The exact number of people who lost their jobs Monday is unknown, but reportedly the number was roughly between 3,000 and 4,000 people. One LinkedIn post from one of the impacted employees stated that they were “one of thousands that got the boot.”…
