Second Del Valle ISD police officer indicted for same reason

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A former Del Valle Independent School District Police Department officer has been indicted on six felony counts alleging he falsified records and information during the hiring process, according to court documents.

A Travis County grand jury indicted Ernest Ferniz on six counts of tampering with a governmental record with intent to defraud or harm, a state jail felony. The indictment was filed in the 460th Judicial District Court of Travis County.

According to the indictment, Ferniz is accused of knowingly making, presenting and using false information on a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, or TCOLE, personal history statement submitted to the Del Valle ISD Police Department around Aug. 15, 2023.

The first five counts allege Ferniz provided false responses in multiple sections of the TCOLE personal history statement. Prosecutors allege he did so with the intent that the information be accepted as a genuine governmental record…
