Pleasant Valley man charged with unlawful use of a weapon

CLAY COUNTY, MO — A warrant was issued Monday in Clay County for a Pleasant Valley man charged with unlawful use of a weapon.

According to a probable cause statement, law enforcement was dispatched on Friday evening to a residence on a report of an individual claiming to have a bomb strapped to his chest. Authorities were familiar with the address due to the suspect, Stephen C. Angelakos, being placed on mental health commitments several times in the past.

Upon arrival, law enforcement used the PA speaker to request Angelakos to exit the residence. Eventually, he exited the residence and began moving towards the officers while brandishing a knife. Authorities commanded Angelakos to drop the knife, but he refused and less lethal measures were then used to place him into handcuffs…
